Health care is a major strength in the Greater Binghamton area, with two major hospital systems. Both provide primary care clinics, physician networks, wellness programs, and home health care/long term care alternatives.

Lourdes Hospital

P: (607)-798-5111

Lourdes Hospital is a 277-bed hospital in Binghamton. It is a member of Ascension Healthcare. A Catholic institution, Lourdes Hospital has provided compassionate care to those in need since 1925. The main hospital campus includes a Hospice program, an Ambulatory Surgery Center, and a Regional Cancer Center. Reaching beyond these boundaries, Lourdes has established a network of primary care physicians at convenient sites throughout the region.

The "Mission In Motion" program, which provides primary care and cancer screening services through two mobile medical vans, makes health care accessible to rural populations.

United Health Services Health Care System

UHS Provides care at two hospitals: the 280-bed Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City, 763-6000, and the 236-bed Binghamton General Hospital in Binghamton, 762-2200. UHS also operates Family Care Centers in Binghamton, Johnson City, Deposit, Windsor and Candor, as well as nursing facilities and home care in Endicott and Vestal. UHS Stay Healthy in Johnson City's Oakdale Mall provides health information, classes, screenings and consultations with registered nurses.

The health care system is affiliated with United Medical Associates, P.C., a 125-member, multi-specialty physician group with practices throughout the area.

UHS serves as a regional referral center for patients in need of heart surgery, brain and spinal cord surgery, traumatic brain injury, renal dialysis, trauma care, neonatal intensive care, cancer care, high risk obstetrics, reconstructive surgery, rehabilitative medicine, mental healthcare and chemical dependency treatment.
